The Tamil Nadu government has decided to resume schools for students in Classes 1 through 12 on February 1 after lifting the night curfew imposed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
On the 30th of January, the government lifted the total lockdown.
The decisions were made at a meeting presided over by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, which also included Health Minister Ma Subramanian, Chief Secretary V Irai Anbu, and other officials.
Chief Minister M K Stalin has authorized various relaxations in the state, which will be in effect from February 1 to 15, in consideration of students' futures, livelihoods, jobs, and the economy, according to a statement.
Government has announced new relaxations
From February 1, classes for students in grades I through XII will begin. With the exception of institutions that function as Covid care centers, institutes, universities, and training centers can begin operations on February 1.
Restrictions that will stay in effect
Social, cultural, and political meetings will be banned in the future. During the urban local body elections, voters were asked to observe Covid-related rules given by the state election commission.
Playschools and nursery schools will be shut down. Exhibitions and cultural events, both public and private, are prohibited. In hotels, restaurants, and mess halls, a maximum of 50% of the seating capacity is permitted.
Weddings can have up to 100 guests, while funerals can have up to 50. Customers must not exceed 50% of the total capacity in textile and jewelry showrooms.
Clubs, gyms, yoga studios, multiplex/theatres, indoor auditoriums, beauty salons/saloons, and spas can all function at 50% capacity. Amusement parks can also operate at 50% capacity, excluding water sports.
Only needed activities will be permitted for those remaining in confinement zones.
Deaths and cases till now
On Thursday, Tamil Nadu registered 28,515 new cases, bringing the total number of cases to 32,52,751. The death toll rose to 37,412 with 53 deaths. In the last 24 hours, 28,620 cases have been recovered, leaving 2,13,534 active cases in the state. The current optimism rate in Tamil Nadu is 19.42 percent.
The virus infected 5,591 people in Chennai, the most of any district, followed by Coimbatore (3,629), Tiruppur (1,877), Chengalpattu (1,696), Salem (1,431), and Erode (1,431). (1,314).
Meanwhile, 940 new cases and one death have been reported in the Union Territory of Puducherry.
